Shown on OS map as Blackhouse Farmhouse. House, former farmhouse. Probably
early C17 with later alterations. Timber-framed with rendered square and
rectangular infill panels, sandstone rubble plinth and shallow-pitched, hipped,
tiled roof probably replacing earlier roof; large sandstone rubble chimney
with 2 brick stacks flanking ridge and external brick stack to rear. Hall
and cross-wing type plan; 3 bay main range with service bay, cross passage,
"hall" with adjoining 2 bay cross-wing and back-to-back fireplaces. 2 storeys
and cellar beneath service bay; casement windows. Front elevation: main part
has 2 C20 ground and 3 C19 first floor windows, central C20 timber porch with
hipped, tiled roof and C20 timber door; gable end of cross-wing has C20
window and glazed door, also ground floor window in angle with main part.
Planked cellar door in west gable end.
