3/23 Detached bakehouse immediately
north west of Brockbury Hall

Detached bakehouse. Perhaps C18, incorporating part of a cruck truss. Painted
brick, timber-framed to rear with tension brace. 2½ cell, partly reduced in
height to south. Central cell with huge chimney stack and open-fronted hipped
extension containing stairs and lumber-room to north; lesser extensions to
south; one storey garret, one window to east; whole of east front masked by
corrugated iron lean-to (not included). Entrance from extension to south.
South cell now flat roofed; south gable end of main cell now boarded. Interior:
cruck has feet removed and heavy chamfered floor beam halved on inside; garret
fireplace. A rare survival of a detached bakehouse.
