2/69 Hillend Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Dated 1734. Timber-frame with plastered and painted brick
infill; 2 brick stacks on rear wall, one on left gable. 1½ storeys,
attic lit by 3 gabled dormers; 3 + 1 bays (the right hand bay is of brick),
irregular fenestration, all C19 casements, 2 in left bay, 2 in next bay
then door to right, 1 in next bay, with door to right, door in brick bay,
all openings with plank weatherings. Framing: 3 square panels high to
wall-plate with straight angle braces. Left gable: truss originally had
3 queen struts to collar, the datestone above: "A'd/ Dei O M Gloriam/ et/
In Usum Publi.../ H.P. Æ./ R.P./ 1734". This farm was a part of the
endowment of the Chantry School, Martley.
