SO 75 NE BROADWAS CP BUTTS BANK

pair of hop kilns adjoining
Hill Farmhouse to south-west

GV II

Cider house, hop store and pair of hop kilns. C17 with late C19 additions and
alterations. Ciderhouse to left of farmhouse. Timber-framed with painted brick
infill, partly refaced in brick, tiled roof. Two framed bays; single storey and
attic. Front elevation has large square panels, 3 from sill to wall-plate exposed
in right bay; 2 ground floor casements, one to left with cambered head. At rear
wide doorway to left bay with steps leading to gabled loft door above.
Interior: queen strut trusses and single, trenched purlins, machinery removed.
Mill position visible in floor. Hop store adjoins house at right. Brick,
tiled roof. Single unit, two storeys with dentilled eaves cornice. Ground
floor casement with cambered head, one first floor casement; planked door with
gabled canopy. Interior: doors through to kilns and cider house. Hop kilns
adjoin hop store at rear. Brick, slate roofs. Square bases; door with cambered
head to kiln in angle with rear of farmhouse. Adjoining kiln has first floor
casement and outshut.
