Farmhouse. Early C17, C20 alterations and additions. Timber-framed, painted
brick infill, brick replacement walling and refacing, tiled roofs, sandstone
rubble chimney with brick stack to rear centre of main roof, external brick
stack to left side elevation. F-shaped plan; main range of 3 framed bays on
west/east axis, north elevation of which forms present front elevation; 2
adjoining wings to rear east end and centre, each of 2 framed bays; their
gable ends extended and refaced: Adjoining the west elevation of the central
wing is a timber-framed single storey extension with a brick ridge stack at
junction, and the overall plan is squared up by an outshut to the rear west
end of the main range which adjoins the single storey extension. Two storeys
and cellar. Framing: irregular panels, mainly square with 4 from sill to wall-
plate; long swept and short straight braces in upper corners of bays; king post
trusses in gable ends of main range. Front elevation: irregular fenestration;
3 ground floor casements, 3 first floor casements and additional casement to
stair landing; gabled timber-framed porch to right of central bay and planked
door. Interior Roof not inspected. Main beams are stop-chamfered. In
central bay is an open well staircase with moulded handrail and spiral balusters
to lower flight. The farmhouse stands upon a moated site.
