County house, now a hotel. Hotel history states 1710 by Thomas White of
Worcester (uncorroborated); centre extensively remodelled after a fire
and wings added 1927. Rendered with freestone dressings, brick plinth
and quoins. Flat roof concealed behind balustraded parapet, moulded
eaves cornice bracketed in the centre. U-plan with 3 storey central
block of 2:1:2 bays, the centre being advanced and surmounted by a
bracketed pediment with a brick tympanum and freestone crest; glazing
bar sash windows in lugged architrave; with entablature, cornice and cill
on brackets, central Venetian window with decorative fanlight, plain band
between each floor. C20 central glazed door under decorative fanlight
with narrow side lights, all under an open pediment and cornice on brackets.
2 storey and 3 bay wings project at each side; windows as centre but without
entablature and round-headed on first floor with keystones, wide glazing bar
sash window with round-head centre in middle of each front elevation.
