3/59 The Red House
House. Late C17 with masking front range added late C19. Red brick, tiled
roof. Yellow brick dressings to C19 range. T-shaped and added range parallel
to top stroke of T, front range has end stacks and central doorway, earlier
house has central stack. Road elevation of 2 storeys with modillion eaves
cornice and cogged brick string course of yellow brick; 3 bays, 2- and 3-
lgith casement windows with yellow brick labels, central porch. Earlier
house of 2 storeys with attics; English bond; cogged brick string course;
gables have raised verges; rear gable bears traces of rare former brick
mullioned window in attic, also trace of former mullioned window with label
in first floor of rear wing, west return. Remainder of fenestration replaced
in style of front range. Interior has chamfered beams and shaped splat
balusters to staircase.
