House, C17, refaced C18, early C19 accretions. Red sandstone ashlar, brick
refacing and additions, tiled roof. Roughly E-plan with projecting wings
flanking central porch, external stacks to wings, central stack to main range.
Main elevation: 2 storeys and attic in gables, projecting wings have raised
verges, parapet to main range and 3-storey central porch with cornice and
hipped roof; 2 continuous string courses returned to north and south fronts;
2:1:1:1:2 windows, glazing bar sashes, central semi-circular headed doorway
with moulded jambs and imposts, partly glazed door; large external stacks to
north and south have 3 rebuilt conjoined diagonal-plan brick shafts. The
south return has 3 buttresses and 3 stone mullioned and transomed windows,
one similar window survives to north return. Interior: not inspected but
believed to contain fine plastered ceiling of geometric design, and a C17
fireplace (cf VCH, Vol IV).
