8/58 Cow shelter about
70 yards north-west
of Hellens


Barn, now cow shelter. Possibly C15 or C16. Timber-framed, brick west
wall, gables partly weatherboarded and partly clad in corrugated iron,
with corrugated iron roof. Two structural bays aligned north/south.
East elevation is open to farmyard. Interior: three pairs of full collared
cruck blades, two complete with spurs. Though probably shortened, forms
perhaps the oldest part of the farmyard complex at Hellens (qv) with nearby
barn and cow shelter (qv), stable block (qv) and wainhouse (qv). Included
for group value.
