8/92 Chest tomb about 5 yards
south-west of south porch
of the Church of St
Bartholomew

GV II

Chest tomb with illegible inscriptions. Probably mid-C18. Finely carved
sandstone. Gadrooned and moulded capping, moulded base; decorated corner
balusters; side and end panels surrounded by rich asymmetrical whirls;
putto head to top centre of side panels. Eroded inscription on south side
reads "William Ship..., .., 1771".
