House. Early C19. Red sandstone ashlar, slate roofs with cupola to stair-
well and stone stacks. Two storeys with parapet, five by three bays, glazing
bar sashes with central canted bay containing segmentally-headed sash over
porch with entablature and two Tuscan columns in antis, glazing-bar French
casement with fanlight; rear elevation has three storeys, a pair of cast iron
fluted columns to entrance. Noted as having cantilevered early C19 staircase
to rear of entrance hall. Flank-wall runs about to feet from north end of
the house; square ashlar gate piers with moulded cornices and pyramidical
cappings; gates with spear-headed dogbars and fleur-de-lys finials to bars
are stored (at time of re-survey January 1985) behind the gate piers. (RCHM
Vol II, p 154).
