one yard south of junction
of Nave and Chancel of
Putley Parish Church

GV II

Chest tomb for John Hankins, died 1762. Rococo style. Finely cut sandstone
ashlar. Moulded base and capping, gadrooned balusters to corners with low
relief swirling foliage decoration. Rococo devices surround side panels in
subtle asymmetry and the inscription panels are slightly hollow to their centres
and bulging towards their ends.
