1/223 The Firs


Farmhouse. Probably late C17 to early C18 with early C20 extension.
Timber-frame, brick cased and rendered, slate roof and brick stacks.
Rectangular plan aligned east/west. Two storeys. South elevation has
2:1 windows, mid-C20 casements to timber-framed part to left and centre,
3-light early C20 casements to right part, the upper one in a half-dormer,
two entrances to right hand side of each part, the first behind a glazed
early C20 gabled porch, the second under a bracketted canopy. Rear
elevation to north has some exposed timber-framing. Interior: ceiling
beams of ground floor have straight-cut and lamb's tongue run-out chamfer
