north of Hill Farmhouse

Barn. Probably C18, extended early C19. Sandstone rubble, brick dressings
and tiled roof. Four bays aligned roughly north/south. West elevation has
four ventilation slits to left of cart entry in second bay from south and
lean-to catslide-roofed extension to its right; north C19 bay has brick
dressings and an owl hole in the gable. Interior: C19 part has plank ridge,
the trusses to threshing floor have triple angle struts and tie-beam
supported by curving struts from cross-walls. Forms a close upland farm
group with Hill Farmhouse (qv) and the cider house and granary (qv) on the
opposite side of the farmyard.
