7/238 Croose Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Probably C16 to C17. Timber-framed with brick and plaster
infill, tiled roofs and large stone stack with brick shaft to north side.
Cross-passage main range aligned east/west with cross-wings at each end.
Cellar and two storeys. North elevation has 1:2:1 windows, glazing-bar
casements to gable fronts and two small one-light windows, one either side
of central stack, cross-passage entry in lean-to to left of stack. Frame
is four panels high to wall-plates and tie-beams, north gables though
superficially similar, with V-struts from collars and angle-braces from
corner posts, differ considerably in size, the earlier east one being
lower with more regular members. (RCHM Vol II, p 222-3).
