Description

BOSBURY CP -
SO 64 SE

6/49 Temple Court

18.11.52

- II

Farmhouse. C18 core, remodelled mid-C19, possibly incorporating earlier
fabric. Brick, sandstone plinth and part sandstone rubble to rear wing,
slate roofs. Irregular plan, two rooms deep with parallel roof ranges and
further wing to rear, central entrance, end stacks. Two storeys, attics
and cellars; south front: 2:1:2 windows, central slightly forward break
with gable, glazing bar sash windows with cambered heads, forward projecting
central gabled porch with semi-circular headed doorway, decorative fanlight,
inner doorway with panelled recess, overlight and half-glazed door. The
stone north wing is reputed to be of medieval date though there is little
evidence of this; the house is on a moated site formerly occupied by a
preceptory of the Knights Templar.
