Description

BOSBURY CP LONGACRE
SO 64 SE

6/69 Bentley's Farmhouse

10.4.85

- II

Farmhouse. Late C17 or early C18, altered mid-C19. Timber-framed with brick
infill, sandstone plinth and stack, tiled roof. Six framed bays aligned north/
south, east front to road, south gable end stack with bread oven, entrance to
west front, later brick addition to north gable end. Two storeys, irregular
fenestration, one 2-light casement below eaves to left of centre, pair of
similar windows to left end bay and further window toward centre possibly in
former entrance, further doorway with ledged door and window opening in ground
floor of northern brick extension (to right). Framing though irregular and
altered appears complete, generally three square panels from sill to wall-plate
with irregular angle bracing possibly implying roof raised although there is no
evidence of this in gable end, three struts to collar and V-struts.
