Description

ELDERSFIELD CP -
SO 73 SE
6/59 Barn approximately 25 metres
south of Cromer Farmhouse
GV II

Barn. Possibly C16. Cruck-framed with walls of weatherboarded timber-framing
and slate roof. North side, facing house, has brick lean-to additions to each
side of central entrance. Interior: not fully accessible at time of survey
(April 1986), but appears to be of five bays. The truss to the east of the
threshing floor was fully visible and has a high collar, no tie-beam, and
spurs to wall-posts. Wattle holes in the wall-plates suggest that the infill
was originally of wattle-and-daub.
