Palace Pound
SO 4924 1/58

Said to have been part of the Bishop's Palace that stood on the site of
the Royal Hotel. C17, 3 storeys. Stucco. Flanking 2-storeyed bays on
high bases with moulded cornices. Gothic stone doorway with 4-centred arch
etc. Gable to South return has heavy ornamental barge board. There are
said to be 3 original 2-light windows and a blocked doorway in basement.
Inside is a late C17 staircase and some fragments of C14-C16 glass. rchm
Nos 6 and 7. Palace pound and Palace Pound Cottage form a group.
