north-east of Tregate
Castle Farmhouse

Barn. C17. Part timber-framed with sandstone rubble plinth and sand-
stone rubble refacing, corrugated metal roof, rectangular plan aligned
north/south, forward projecting porch to east, with lean-to giving cat-
slide to south of porch. Seven bays with weatherboarded gable to porch
and threshing floor in third bay from west. Interior: collar-and-tie-
beam trusses with inclined struts and three pairs of purlins, three
queen struts to collar in porch with V-struts in gable. Framing: four
panels from sill to wall-plate. Gable ends and four bays of east side
in rubble. Additional bay to north end with loft over cowhouse under
roof continuous with wooden structure.
