south-east of Church of

GV II

Pedestal tomb for Fanny Bennett, died 1842. Sandstone ashlar, moulded base
and capping, pyramidical finial decorated with ball-flower frieze, recessed
inscription panels between corner colonettes supporting acanthus capitals;
fluted frieze beneath cornice also has ball-flower decoration. An interest-
ing early Victorian example of an archaeological design combining established
themes with renewed local Gothic tradition in the form of ball-flowers.
