5/64 Newman monument about
- 2 yards south-east of
- Church of the Holy Trinity

Headstone to Thomas Newman, died 1755. Sandstone. Inscription panels
between fluted Corinthian pilasters and under foliated design with central
human head. The inscription reads:

"My sudden Death Dear Friends do not Lament
But think what pains for us Christ underwent
To save us Mortals from Eternal Pain
He suffered Death and rose to Life again
Through whose merits I from Death am free
To life in Bliss to all Eternity".

A decent example of local craftsmanship.
