Outbuilding about 25 yards north-east of Swinmoor

Barn, subsequently a stable, now part of large cow house. Possibly C15 with
C18 alterations. Timber-frame with sandstone rubble, brick and weatherboarded
walls and part-hipped corrugated iron roof. Two structural bays aligned roughly
east/west. East gable has segmental-headed opening to left of central ledged
door also with segmental head, central opening above door is set in weather-
boarding, sandstone plinth extends to base of ground floor opening above which
is brickwork. North wall is weatherboarded and the whole enveloped by late C20
cowhouse (not of special interest) on all except east side. Interior retains
two complete pairs of cruck blades, each with ties, spurs, collars and three
large purlins on heavy principals to each slope. North wall has framing two
large square panels high from cill to wall-plate. (RCHM Vol I, p 198).
