6/86 Fountain about 50 yards
south of Whitfield

GV II

Fountain. Probably c1768. Central octagonal white marble or limestone
column has putti in bas relief above strapwork cartouches supporting four
bronze spouts surmounted by single putto in-the-round entwined by a serpent.
Basin surrounding pool is octagonal, multi-coloured scagliola panels divided
by corner pilasters, moulded base and coping. The fountain was moved here in
late C20. (Information from Mr George Clive).
