Description

GARWAY CP -
SO 42 SE

5/15 Garway Court

GV II

Farmhouse. Probably early C17 with later extensions. Roughly coursed
painted sandstone rubble, Welsh slate roof hipped to south with two
brick ridge stacks. Rectangular plan aligned roughly north/south. Cellar
with two storeys, three windows, late C19 casements with two lights, entry
to left with nailed and studded C17 door in 4-centred head, second entry
to right of centre and in C20 glazed porch. Attached to the house to the
north under a continuous roof is a granary extension, probably C18 over a
wash-house basement, the upper level of which is reached by tollet stairs
from the front with a 3-barred opening to the right of the entry. To the
south is a lower range with one storey and attic said to have been a cider-
house which has tallet stairs, over a dog kennel, leading to a C18 ledged
door in the south gable. Interior: both porch and south extensions have
interrupted trusses with dropped tie-beams.
