3/2 Churchyard cross about
4 yards south of the
westernmost window of
south side of the nave
of the Church of St Andrew
Base and shaft of churchyard cross. Probably C14 with earlier element.
Sandstone ashlar. Three square steps rise to square base in which is inserted,
in a square socket, an ill-fitting octagonal shaft about three feet high. At
the top of shaft is a chamfered cushion capital, probably late C11 or C12 with
fittings for a sundial. RCHM states that the capital is probably from the south
doorway of Church of St Andrew (qv). (RCHM, Vol I, p 15).
