Farmhouse. Probably C17 with C18 extension and later alterations. Sandstone
rubble, timber-frame with brick and plaster infill. Welsh slate and corrugated
iron roofs with large brick ridge stack. Irregular plan, roughly L-shaped with
main range aligned north-east/south-west and cross-wing to south end. Two
storeys with cellars. North-west elevation has 2:1 windows, mid-C20 casements
of three lights. Ground floor has two similar windows, one either side of
central glazed gabled late C20 porch. Gable front to right has C20 ledged
door and irregular exposed framing with angle struts from corner posts. To
left hand side is a C18 stable extension with two openings having diamond
section oak mullions, one to each side of central door; all three heads are
dressed and have dropped keystones. To rear of timber-framed cross-wing is
a lower two-storey granary extension, probably late C18, of thin timber-framing
with brick infill. Interior has C17 panelling in principal ground floor room
of southern cross-wing. The same room has moulded beams dividing the ceiling
into regular panels (RCHM Vol I, p 17 - 18).
