Farmhouse. Probably late C17 to C18 with later additions and alterations.
Sandstone rubble, timber-frame with brick and plaster infill and weatherboards.
Pantile roofs and large external sandstone end stack with brick shaft.
Rectangular plan with two-bay house and granary and ciderhouse aligned roughly
north/south. Two storeys. East elevation has four windows, 2-light mid-C20
casements. Ground floor has three casements, each of two lights, probably
late C19. Entry to right of centre in gabled early C20 porch. To left is
granary extension with raking-top dormer and weatherboarded upper storey.
Ground floor has two entries set in high rubble plinth. To right is single-
storey rubble ciderhouse. Rear elevation to west has tallet stairs over
kennel rising from west to ledged door to granary. Interior of house has
beams in principal ground floor room with pyramidical chamfer stops. One
truss has plain collars and the others have three queen struts to collars
under V-struts. Granary has raking struts from tie to principals. (RCHM,
Vol I, p 35).
