The Old Post Office

GV II
House. Probably C16 or C17 with later alterations. Timber-frame with brick
infill and rendered finish. Hipped Welsh slate roof and central stack. L-
plan with main range of about 3½ bays aligned north/south with small eastward
projection at south end. Two storeys. West elevation has one window, a plastic-
coated 2-light C20 casement and wall-frame with three to four square panels
between cill and wall-plate. South gable has angle struts from corner posts to
tie. North gable has weatherboarded top and two late C20 casements each of two
lights to both floors. Ledged nail-studded door with foliated strap hinges to
left-hand side. Interior noted as having heavy ceiling beams. (RCHM, Vol I,
p 61).
