8/13 Cowles House

House. Circa 1600. Stone and timber-framing with slate roof. Two storeys.
Front wall has exposed square-panelled framing between stone gable walls.
The level of the eaves has been raised. Three bays, with C20 casement windows.
Door in central bay. Projecting chimney stack on right-hand gable. Interior:
the right-hand room has exposed ceiling joists spanning the width of the
house, and a fireplace with chamfered and stopped bressummer. The roof trusses
have struts between tie-beam and collar, and V-struts above the collar.
