Description

WESTON UNDER PENYARD CP -
SO 62 SW

5/97 Sunnyside

- II

House. Probably late medieval. Timber-framed, now with rendered stone
walls, and with slate roof. One storey with attic. Two bays. Windows
are C20 casements with glazing bars. Attic dormers. Door between bays.
Chimney at right and on left-hand gable, the latter with projecting stack
set forward of ridge. The left-hand gable wall has exposed timber-framing,
with a cruck truss, rear wall-post, and vertical struts above the tie-beam.
The framing terminates at collar level, suggesting that the roof was
originally half-hipped. Interior: not accessible at time of survey (March
1986) but said to contain no visible crucks.
