West lodge to Kentchurch Court (qv). Early to mid-C19. Sandstone rubble
with ashlar dressings and Welsh slate roofs. Rectangular lodge in style
of crenellated gatehouse with central block of two storeys with crenellated
parapet and 2-light casement window to first floor; ground floor pierced by
tall Tudor arched gateway forming entrance to drive and with tall double
gates of a grid pattern resembling a portcullis when closed. This central
block is flanked by single-storey blocks with similar crenellated parapets
and 2-light casements. Later additions to rear.
