3/54 Willox Bridge Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse. C17, remodelled during C18 and further altered and extended
during C20. Timber-framed earlier house with part wattle-and-daub and
part painted brick infill on sandstone rubble plinth; plastered sandstone
rubble later refacing; C20 tiled roof. Former L-plan house now largely
rectangular with C20 addition in angle with entrance to west front and
adjoining C20 addition to south (not included). Main axial stack. Two
storeys and attics. West front: two gables with 3-light casement windows
and central 6-pane casement wndow; entrance in single storey extension to
right with ledged door. Square panelled timber-framing revealed to north
and east; four square panels from sill to wall-plate with V-struts in gable.
Interior altered but fairly intact with wavy splat balusters to staircase
and chamfered ceiling beams in main room. The chamfered jambs and lintels
of the main fireplace (now blocked by C20 addition) and a fireplace in an
upper room are intact. The upper rooms also contain sections of C18 panelling.
