16.11.67 II

House. c1760 with mid-C20 alterations. Finely jointed red brick, hipped
plain tiled roofs with fishscale tile banding behind parapet to front;
brick end stacks. Three storeys and attic with moulded eaves cornice.
Five bays; central three bays are widely spaced and above them is a large
pediment on consoles; windows all have rusticated lintels with moulded
keyblocks; ground floor has multi-paned C20 windows reaching to ground
level and have transom lights with two glazing bars; five first floor 12-
pane sashes and second floor 6-pane sashes. Keyed oculus contained within
pediment. Central doorcase is probably late C18 and has a shallow open
pediment, entablature and pilasters, panelled reveals and soffit, a part-
glazed C20 door and barred segmental fanlight. Interior: plan has been
altered and new staircase inserted. Two ornate timber fireplaces survive
with fluted Ionic columns, swags and carved panels, one to front right of
ground floor, the other moved to room to rear left, against new partition.
The house is said to stand on the site of a C16 building.
