SO 96 NW DODFORD WITH GRAFTON CP

11/81 Barn and shelter shed
about 20 yards north-east
of West Lodge and adjoining
granary

GV II

Barn and shelter shed. C18 with mid-C19 additions. Brick with plain tiled
and corrugated iron roofs. Three bays aligned north/south; central wagon
bay has opposed cart entries with double doors. Header ventilation courses.
Door with cambered head to north-west. Interior: roof has intermediate collar
and tie-beam trusses with two struts and two tiers of trenched purlins.
Shelter shed adjoins south end; C19; two levels with dehtilled eaves cornice;
four bays; open to east elevation and supported on three bullnosed brick piers.
Blocked loft opening in south gable end with six alighting ledges and pigeon
holes above. Lean-to addition with catslide roof adjoins west elevation.
The barn and shelter shed enclose the farmyard to the east.
