9/2 Yew Tree House
House. C17 with mid-C19 alterations and additions. Timber-framed with
painted brick and rendered infill, painted brick refacing and additions
and machine- and plain tiled roof. Two framed bays aligned east/west;
large external sandstone chimney with two star-shaped stacks to rear of
west bay. Two storeys partly with dentilled and cogged eaves cornices.
fill: four panels from sill to wall-plate, short straight braces in
upper corners, collar and tie-beam truss at east gable end with two collars,
four struts to lower collar and two struts to upper collar. South front
elevation: ground floor has a 2-light and a 3-light casement with plank
weatherings; two first floor 3-light casements; main entrance in west bay
has a ledged and battened door. C19 addition at west gable end continues
main roof ridge and has outshut with catslide roof to front; there are two
blind windows with cambered heads in the outshut and a small square window
in the angle with the main part. Interior not inspected. The building was
used as a public house during the C19 and early C20.
