The Farmhouse and
adjoining stable


Farmhouse, now house and adjoining stable. Cl7 with mid-C18, mid-C19
and mid-C20 alterations. Timber-framed with brick infill on- brick plinth,
brick replacement walling and refacing; plain tiled roofs. L-plan; main
part, two framed bays.aligned roughly east/west with large external
chimneys at gable ends (the east gable end chimney having tiled offsets);
intersecting wing to rear east bay also of two framed bays. Part single
storey and attic with half-dormers, part two storeys and attic. Framin :
main part is reconstructed and has four panels from sill to wall-plate,
long straight braces at first floor level of west gable end; collar and
tie-beam trusses with two collars and struts partly visible at gable ends;
rear wing has three rows of panels at first floor level and a similar truss
with a single collar which has four struts beneath and V-strut above.
South front elevation: windows are C20 casements; ground floor has a 2-
light and two 4-light windows; two gabled half-dormers with cross-casements.
Attic light in east gable end and small square light to front of chimney
base. Interior not inspected. Main entrance in west side of rear wing
with C20 hipped-roofed porch, 2-light window and door. There is a C19
addition to the gable end of the rear wing; two levels; two bays; loft
door and window in gable end (both with cambered heads). Also C19 single-
storey addition to east side of rear wing. Stable: adjoins west gable end
of main part; C18; brick and plain tiled roof with parapets at gable ends;
two levels; two bays; single-light ground floor window to front elevation;
stable door to rear; single-light ground floor window and loft door in gable
end. A C19 lean-to addition adjoins both farmhouse and stable at rear.
