Barn and attached cart shed. Cl7 with mid-C19 alterations and additions.
Timber-framed with brick infill, part weatherboarded.on brick plinth;
plain tiled roofs. Three framed bays aligned roughly north/south; central
wagon bay with opposed cart entries and double doors. Framing: three panels
from sill to wall-plate; long straight braces in lower corners; collar and
tie-beam truss with two collars, four struts to lower and two to upper at
north gable end; (south end wall rebuilt in brick with header ventilation
patterns); two intermediate trusses have single collar and raking struts
at lower corners; two tiers of trenched purlins. Single bay framed addition
at north gable end; two levels; two panels from sill to wall-plate, long
straight braces in lower corners and collar and tie-beam truss with two
struts at north gable end; east elevation rebuilt in brick with central 3-
light wood-mullioned window flanked by two doors with cambered heads. (The
C19 stable block adjoining to north-east is not of interest). Cart shed: adjoins
south gable end of barn; C19; brick with plain tiled roof; four bays; pilaster
buttresses at bay divisions and diaper ventilation patterns in side walls;
large cart entrance in south gable end with some weatherboarding above.
Interior: king-post truss at gable end and three similar intermediate trusses.
