Stable and garden walls. Early C19. Brick; plain tiled roof with parapets
and kneelers at gable ends. Two levels with dentilled eaves cornice. Three
bays; all openings are round-headed. Main north elevation has four narrow
multi-paned metal lights, a loft opening and two stable doors, one of which
has a lean-to canopy on brackets. Diaper ventilation patterns in gable ends.
Original lean-to at west end has two openings in its west elevation and also
a small square hole with a sandstone alighting ledge; also opening and diaper
ventilation pattern in north end. Garden wall lies to south of stable and
east of The Old House (qv). Brick with sandstone coping. Walls are about
15 feet high and enclose an area of about 5,000 square feet. The stable and
large walled garden form an interesting part of the original garden layout
and service buildings to the rear of The Old House. Included for group value.
