House, now two shops and flats. Early C17 with mid-C18, mid-C19 and some
late C20 alterations. Timber-frame with rendered infill and machine tile
roof. Four storeys, modillioned cornice, second and third floors jettied;
two windows: square bays rising from first to second floor with 3-light
casements on first floor, 2-light casements on the second floor; third floor:
2-light casements; ground floor: pilastered shop front with scroll brackets
to blind box, two plate glass windows, entrances recessed in centre with
glazed doors (no 62 to left, 62A to right). Passage to right is a part of
this building with a stuccoed facade above of four storeys with 8-pane sashes
to first and second floor, and a single-light casement to third floor; door
has four raised and fielded panels. Framing: highly decorative with console
brackets to jetties, quadrant braces to framing, two square panels high on
first and second floor, on third floor, two square panels high with quatre-
foils in panels, raised in C18 with framing a single rectangular panel high.
Rear wall has exposed square framing and two gables.
