House, now club. Probably late C16 with late C17 and early C19 extensions,
and some late C20 alterations. Timber-frame with painted brick and rendered
infill; the painted brick addition has planted framing. L-plan, limb extending
to west has two C16 framed bays plus three C17 framed bays, that extending to
south is early C19. East front: two storeys, four windows: 3-light casements
under segmental heads; ground floor: three windows as above, entrance to right-
hand corner has a gabled wooden porch approached by steps and is flanked by
two small casement windows. Framing: C16 portion is close-studded with mid-
rail, C17 part is square panelled with straight tension braces. Interior:
the C19 part of building is panelled with re-set C17 panelling. The erroneous
date 1165 carved in relief over a window on the C16 part of the building is a
C19 addition. (VCH 4, p 301).
