8/305 Worsley House

GV II

Farmhouse. Late C15 with C16 and late C17 extensions, with mid-C19 and
some late C20 alterations. Timber-frame with rendered infill underbuilt
in painted brick, and with tile roof. Four framed bays aligned north/
south, with a C17 framed bay to north, a brick addition to south, and also
at this end a C16 extension of one framed bay to west. Main stack in a
short bay to south end of original house. Two storeys, four windows: three
single-light casements, with a 5-light C20 casement to left of centre;
ground floor: four 3-light casements; entrance to left of centre has a
C19 gabled brick porch, door has wooden architrave and a C17 boarded door
with strap hinges. Framing: close-studded to original house, with curved
tension braces, C16 portion, four square panels high, C17 part three square
panels high to first floor; roof of C15 part has collar and tie-beam trusses
with trenched purlins and curved wind-braces. Interior: main fireplace has
moulded stone jambs continued around a 4-centred arch in restored timber
lintel.
