Farmhouse, now a private house. C16 (probably for John de Street c.1530),
extended into barn to E in C20. Timber frame roughcast with steep old
red tile roofs. Barn weatherboarded. A long 2-storeys house facing S,
set back from road, with continuous side jetty to house on S part. A
2-storeys 4 windows long house with 3 bays hall and cross-passage, 2
bays crosswing parlour at E with contemporary barn to E now part of
house. Entrance at W of hall with through passage behind a large
chimney and lower contemporary service wing to W with axial chamfered
beam. Gabled stair turret on N at junction of hall and parlour. Small
2-light flush casement windows. Old oak doors to cross passage. Jetty
has knee braces to main beams. Timbers exposed inside. 2 axial parallel
chamfered beams in hall. Arched niches in large open fireplace. Wall
paintings of pomegranates behind C17 scratch moulded panelling in
parlour. Fine Italian carved Renaissance style wellhead over capped
well by rear door. Very similar to house called Rent Street Barns q.v..
