House, now a Public House. C17, lower C19 additions at N. Timber frame
plastered with painted brick to ground floor and steep old red tile roof.
Slate roof to painted brick N addition with weatherboarded and old red
tile single storey small building at N end next gate. A 2-storeys attic
and cellar internal chimney plan house facing E, of 2 cells with
additions up slope to N. 2 windows to each floor and lean-to porch to N
part of main building. Interior has exposed beams and joists. Side along
High Street probably originally jettied. Former lobby entrance blocked.
Jowled posts with curved braces. Clasped purlin roof with collar and
queen strut trusses. Old newel stair to attic. Chamfered floor beams
with run-out stops and flat joists. Single storey weatherboarded and
slaved or tiled roofed extensions to NW. (Roberts(1975)No.28).
