House. C16 or early C17. Timber frame exposed on 1st floor with red
brick infill and ground floor cased or replaced in Flemish-bond red
brick with some blue headers. Steep old red tile roof. A 2-storeys, 2
cells, internal chimney plan house facing W, probably originally having
a central lobby entrance by stack. Stair formerly in outshut behind
stack, now replaced in C20 rear wing. Longer S bay with hall on ground
floor and main chamber over both heated. 2 windows to each floor.
3-light flush lattice leaded casements. Small 3-light original lattice
leaded window at 1st floor on E side. S gable rebuilt in brick. 2
storeys rear wing C20. Clasped purlin roof on jowled posts. Highly
finished interior with chamfered axial floor beams with elaborate
chevron stepped and notched stops, salt recesses and blocked bake oven
in chimney, fishtail pattern iron door hinges, and shaped corbel bracket
for former oriel window on W to main chamber. (Roberts(1975)No.33).
