House, now a Public House. Late C17 E part, rear wing early C19, front
encased with brick in mid-C19 when W part with cellar added. Timber
frame cased in plum brick. W gable end rear of W part in uncoursed
knapped flint with brick dressings. Steep old red tile roofs, hipped
W part. A 2-storeys attic and cellar house facing S with short
parallel-roofed 2-storeys rear range at NE. S front has 2 3-light
casement windows to 1st floor under eaves, formerly 2 doorways side
by side in middle (LH one now a 6/6 pane sash window), a recessed
sash window with 10/10 panes and plastered reveals on LH and a
rectangular bay window on RH with 3/3 panes and hipped tile roof. This
has panelled folding internal shutters. Winding stair in NE corner of
C17 part, and chamfered ceiling beam. (KLLHMS report 1979 in NMR).
