- on Grand Union Canal
Canal lock keeper's house. Early C19. For Grand Junction Canal Company
(became Grand Union Canal by amalgamation 1929), colourwashed brick with
hipped slate roof. 2 storeys, 2 windows wide facing E. Small upper
windows with recessed sashes, 3/3 panes and segmental arches. Taller
similar window to left of door. Canted bay window to RH with 2/2 panes
sash windows. Half-glazed panelled door renewed. House stands next lock
on W has a half storey below the level of the lock walkway due to the
embankment, and a rear extension on the flat.
