Barn. Early C17, N bay late C17. Timber frame on low brick sill, dark
weatherboarded with steep old red tile roofs, barn hipped at N end. A
4-bay barn facing W with gabled porch to 2nd bay from S and later
heavily framed one-bay extension at N end. Jowled posts and heavy curved
braces to tie-beams. Squint-butted scarf joint in wallplate.
Clasped-purlin collar and tie-beam roof with one purlin to each slope.
Butt-purlin roof in hipped N extension. Barn said to have been used
during World War II for HM George VI to lunch with his officers, when the
area was used for training. Winnowing door on E side of mid storey, and
high pitching doors to side bays.
