Milestone. Early C19 for 7th Earl of Bridgewater. Portland stone. A
small square milestone not connected with any turnpike, with figures cut
into the stone. About 15ins square and 2ft high with chamfered arrises
stopped above ground level. 4 top edges chamfered and top a blunt
pyramid. Mason's mark E cut into S face. Inscribed on W
'28/MILES/TO/LONDON'. (Branch Johnson (1970)111).
