2 adjoining Lock Keepers' houses. Early/mid C19, for Grand Junction Canal
Company (became Grand Union by amalgamation in 1929). Painted red brick
with hipped slate roof. 2 storeys and basements, facing S, entered from
raised level of lockside with rear entry at lower level. Larger W house
(No. 111 on door) has 2 windows to each floor and door in middle.
2-light casement windows with segmental arches to 1st floor. Recessed
sash window with 2/2 panes on left, and segmental bay window to right of
4-panel flush-beaded door with gabled trellis porch, E house formerly 2
small houses with handed plans, shared internal stack, doors together at
front (W doorway blocked) and a window to each house on each floor.
Recessed sash windows with 3/3 panes. E gable stuccoed and lined as
ashlar, with a central door at basement level and one sash window to
each floor.
